FOOT & ANKLE PAIN

Ankle pain can have some significant impacts on your daily life, as walking and weight bearing become increasingly difficult. Ankle injuries if not treated correctly have the potential to become chronic in nature. Not only that, ankle injuries have the potential to create problems elsewhere due to the bodies compensation pattern. The most common type of ankle injury is an ankle sprain, or an inversion sprain. This type of trauma has the ability to strain or tear ligaments around the ankle, creating instability in the joint.

Conditions of the ankle and foot:

Ankle sprains, ankle fractures, plantar fasciitis, policeman’s heel, bunions, tarsal tunnel plus many more.

Common causes:
  • Sporting injuries
  • Poor knee/hip alignment
  • Poor posture/spinal alignment
  • Incorrect footwear (high heels, stiff work boots)
  • Poor running technique
  • Repetitive strain injuries
  • Trauma
  • Fractures
  • Underlying disease or pathology (rare)
What is the most common cause of ankle pain?

Once we have ruled out any underlying disease or problem such as fracture, the most common causes of ankle pain are mechanical in nature. Incorrect alignment, and muscular imbalances of the ankle joint are often common causes.

Spinal alignment and posture have a big impact on ankle pain and dysfunction, as if your posture is forward or unbalanced this can places unnecessary weight and pressure on the joint.

How chiropractic helps people with ankle pain:

At Noel Relief Centers we take a holistic approach with ankle pain, we treat your entire body and the ankle itself, not just at the site of injury. There can be many factors into what is causing your ankle pain, so it is essential we provide an accurate diagnosis.

Our process involved a complimentary consultation which allows us to determine if we are in fact the right people to help you. If we are not, we will be sure to refer you to the right people. If we deem that we can help you, you will move on to a paid examination.

During this examination process, we will perform a range of orthopaedic, neurological, and musculoskeletal tests in order to find out what is the problem. Once we have all of this information, we will report back to you with our findings.

From here we will create a personalised treatment plan, designed to help you recover naturally. Our treatment approach will include spinal adjustments, adjustments to the joints of the body, muscle work, plus the prescription of rehab exercises and stretches.

We will also look at the lifestyle factors that have led to the injury and help you make modifications as necessary to precent future instances.
